Setelah cukup banyak mengisi blog ini dengan hal-hal yang berbau spiritualitas, SAP, dan Oracle.. Sekarang saya ingin berbagi sedikit pengalaman yang bagi saya pribadi adalah sebuah dunia yang baru .

Setelah pengalaman di sistem telekomunikasi, sales & marketing, HR, dan advertising.. Sekarang saya menapaki hal baru dalam karir saya.. yaitu hal-hal yang berbau “Logistics & Warehousing” di sebuah perusahaan FMCG asing.

Yup, “Logistics & Warehousing”.

Tidak pernah terbersit sebelumnya bahwa saya akan memasuki dunia ini dalam karir saya. Sebagai informasi, saya adalah lulusan Sarjana Komputer. Yup, lulusan yang seharusnya lebih fokus pada hal teknikal seperti infrastruktur, database, dkk namun itu bukanlah pilihan hidup saya.

Di dunia yang bernama “Logistics & Warehousing” ini, saya sepertinya “jatuh cinta” agak dalam dengan proses bisnis. Dalam bidang baru yang saat ini menjadi tanggungjawab dalam karir saya, baru kali ini boleh dibilang hampir 100% saya seperti “dipaksa” untuk berpikir di luar kerangka seorang profesional IT.

Singkatnya bila sebagai orang IT, saya sah bila berpikir dari sisi reabilitas suatu sistem dan benefitnya untuk support bisnis…paling jauh adalah berpikir ke integritas dari master data serta input yang dimasukkan oleh user…

Dalam tugas yang cukup menantang kali ini, boleh dibilang saya berangkat dari pengetahuan nol besar mengenai segala sesuatu yang berbau “Logistics & Warehousing”…

Saya dituntut untuk keluar lebih jauh dari zona nyaman saya sebagai orang IT /sistem saja (walaupun titel nya: business systems , tapi karena masih kurang human resource pada project at the end saya merangkap tim proses juga karena saya merupakan yang tersisa dari tim pertama dari IT yang “dicemplungkan” benar-benar fokus ke “Logistics & Warehousing” khusus untuk alat pendingin).

Di sini saya belajar untuk fokus ke proses. Belajar untuk mengubah prinsip saya dari “system first” menjadi “process first”.. Pada awalnya sempat terseok-seok karena seperti yang saya bilang, saya berangkat dari nol. Tapi untunglah, mantan “coach” saya yang baik hati(FYI, saya masuk dari jalur Graduate Trainee) dan notabene lulusan Teknik Industri dan saya akui sangat sangat jago menyeimbangkan sistem dan proses, akhirnya pun ditugaskan fokus ke bidang yang sama dengan saya (dan melepaskan tanggungjawab support untuk Sales&Marketing) Ah, senangnya dan saya belajar banyak dari dia .

Hingga saat ini, saya belajar bahwa dalam merancang apa yang kami sebut sebagai “IT Initiatives” bukanlah semata mengenai sistem. Dasar semua itu berangkat dari proses. Bingung? Pastinya.

Memperbaiki proses itu tidak semudah membalikkan telapak tangan. Jauh lebih mudah memperbaiki sistem, menurut saya. Seringkali hal yang menurut orang IT itu mudah, ternyata actual di lapangan sangat susah untuk mengaplikasikannya.

Awalnya dimulai dari sulitnya menyusun rute kunjungan pengantaran ke pelanggan. Tidak setiap hari dan tentunya tidak rutin kan pelanggan meminta untuk ditempatkan alat pendingin ? Bisa2, toko mereka penuh dengan alat pendingin seperti kulkas, hehehe..

Namun, permintaan tersebut jumlahnya cukup besar dan beragam dari hari ke hari. Pekerjaan ini seperti berpacu dengan waktu untuk melayani permintaan pelanggan semaksimal mungkin.

Di antara sekian banyak software logistics canggih yang beredar di pasaran, akhirnya saya come up dengan inisiatif menggunakan Google Earth. Murah (baca: gratis ) , dan tampaknya satu-satunya solusi yang possible diterapkan selama tahap perbaikan proses bisnis secara keseluruhan.

Selanjutnya saya dihadapkan pada tantangan untuk meningkatkan akurasi stock level data, pengaturan tata letak di Warehouse, hingga optimalisasi waktu kerja di semua bagian dari Dispatching, Logistics, hingga Administration.

Ya, ya, ya.. mungkin banyak vocab yang kurang familiar di atas… Toh, pada awalnya saya juga cengo plus berbingung ria.. Kembali pada prinsip hidup saya yang yakin bahwa Tuhan gak akan pernah membiarkan kita melakukan sesuatu di luar kemampuan kita.. Dan saya berterimakasih karena benar-benar belajar banyak  untuk melihat sudut pandang dari atasan-atasan saya yang datang dari background Teknik Industri dan Manajemen Operasional. Terutama bagaimana untuk berkomunikasi dari orang-orang bisnis.

Perlahan namun pasti, saya berusaha untuk menggeser cara berpikir saya dari yang sangat terstruktur sekali menjadi mempertimbangkan yang namanya “RISK & CHANGE MANAGEMENT”. Dalam mengajukan desain solusi, saya berpikir apakah desain solusi yang saya ajukan itu dapat dijalankan dengan kondisi nyata yang ada, background orang-orang di lapangan yang notabene SMA saja sudah bagus (maaf bukan underestimate tapi itulah kenyataannya di lapangan), dan meningkatkan efisiensi biaya serta efektifitas waktu kerja orang-orang di lapangan.

Hal lain yang harus digeser adalah”kenyamanan” desain di pikiran saja dengan desain setelah melihat keadaan yang sesungguhnya. Yup, bolak-balik kantor dan gudang adalah hal yang telah terasa lumrah.

Yang menarik selain proses adalah people. Ya, saya berurusan dari orang dengan latar belakang pendidikan yang tinggi  hingga orang yang harus diterangkan dengan cara yang sederhana dan detail sekali (kasarnya: langsung perintah). Sekalipun seringkali saya terpaksa harus berargumen dengan peers saya yang masih berpikir -sangat orang IT sekali-.

Seakan terlihat terjepit di tengah, namun jujur saya menikmati proses pembelajaran ini. Saya belajar berpikir tidak langsung dari detail, namun ke konsep secara umum terlebih dahulu. Saya belajar untuk memperhitungkan risk dan trade off yang terjadi atas setiap tindakan yang diambil.  Saya belajar untuk memikirkan bagaimana caranya agar user/pengguna akhir/orang bisnis mau berubah ke arah yang sebaiknya dilakukan walaupun artinya langkah kerja mereka bertambah.

Ah, sekali lagi saya bersyukur kepada Tuhan atas orang-orang senior (baik user, managers, maupun director) dan pintar di sekeliling saya yang mempunyai sudut pandang berbeda-beda namun selalu ada yang dapat saya petik sebagai pelajaran berharga. Saya menikmatinya karena tantangan bukan hanya secara sistem menyeluruh (bahkan sekali-sekali saya masih perlu untuk coding sederhana), logika, namun juga tantangan ke proses dan orang.

Di akhir kata (namun bukan akhir segalanya).. Hanya ada 1 kesimpulan di benak saya :

” I’m start to love Logistics & Warehousing”

Well, the challenging vocation is of course about to take the monastic life. My prayer for them who already take this way as their vocation (nuns, seminarians, and priests).

7 years ago, I ever challenged to be involved in a Catholic lay ministries for a Charismatic Catholic community… and I was surrender at that time although this community taught me about the meaning of cross (as not just about wooden cross, but as His real love for my life). I brought it to my daily prayers.. and somehow, I felt that God would like to put me to another experiences. I decided to reject that vocation during my university study period. At first, I was angry to God.

The question was WHY ?

I loved the community. I loved the way He calls me. I loved the way He put me to serve Him. And I saw that the community still put a place for the alumni to go back and serve the high school students.

Yup.. I didn’t realize that God still want to process me to fit His plan.

My university life was a period that I got spiritual drought. I tried to forget it by joining many student activities. I forgot Him. I destroyed my prayer life.

Somehow, His Way was unpredicted. In the middle of my spiritual drought, He demanded me to serve Him in online forum. Just by a short time, I appointed to be one of moderators. I felt nothing in the middle of people who always talk about Bibles. I knew nothing, just a little bit of it. At that time, God was taught me to learn and follow Him using faith and not with human brain. At the other side, He dropped me in the deepest point in my life. A point that I learned the meaning of leader, the meaning of friendship, and the meaning of Him. Everyday, I felt yearning for God.

After graduated, He reminds me flashback for each difficult time that I get until now. Time by time, He really teach me the meaning of loyalty to Him, to always rely on Him. Just in short, I can conclude that the my first and second years of professional world was a faith test. I struggle with myself when He said me to bend. During the professional world, many times I fell in spiritual drought especially when He pushed me to release my comfort zone so I can have more time for Him and others in my life… More time to be back to Him..

And now, He put me in a new community. To be honest, at first I didn’t expect the ‘too serious’ community. Trust me, if you come from charismatics and pushed to learn from theology perspective, it would not be an easy thing to adapt. For me, this is my current vocation. God wants me to learn that life is not always easy. Life is not about having and show the religion. Life is more than that, I must show the faith. Month by month (because this community is only have monthly meeting), He taught me about several points below :

1. His Way – by learn the introduction of Ignatius Loyola.

2. Ignatian spirituality – the best thing that I like from this spirituality was it taught me to realize and be grateful for every blessings that I got, although for the small things. He taught me to EXPERIENCE Him, not only to call Him.

3. Basics & Principles – He taught me about what should I put as my life purpose. How to decide. How to take uninhibited attitude when I’m in the middle of something.

He taught me to understand the reasons  and meanings for each difficult experiences that I ever experienced. He taught me how to more put Him in my limits. He taught me that everything that I forgot but really essentials to serve Him. He taught me to have heart of servant. Heart that maybe that I still didn’t have at my past, especially 7 years ago.. with all of my big arrogancy (although in some points, He used me for some people.. which all that I can do is only provide my ears and shoulders as solace for others).

Thanks to Facebook that I still connecting with my brothers and sisters in my 7 years ago community. I saw them grow and utilized in His Way. Congratulation brothers and sisters I’m really happy to see the uploaded photos of your renewal of commitment .

I’m still in progress to find His desire in my life, to find my vocation. I take it as my life journey.. And for sure, I want to provide more time and concern for this journey…

Yah well, I’m not an expert in grammars… I apologize if it’s really disturb you when you read this passage.

I always try to plan what I want to achieve and bring it in my daily prayer to Him. Currently, most of my prayers have been answered by Him. Some of them are exactly what I want, and some of them are even better than I expect (God’s grace).

I believe that God want us to have our vision that should be inline with His vision. To find His vision, I must define my own, bring it to my daily prayer, give the best, and let He do the rest.  :)

My mom wants me to continue my study. In my life, my mom is on the second place after God. I’m just a lucky child that have a great mom. A mom that not come from high academic background, but great enough to be His bridge to bring me to His plan.

Well, as mentioned above.. So I will consider it as one of my next life objective. After some reviews, I’m quite interested with MBA program of ITB. Ofcourse, this program will need extra budget.. High budget.

Dear God, I just want to pray… If this is Your Will, help me to fulfill the costs required. I believe You will be fulfill in Your  time. Amen.

Lukas 5 mengajarkan untuk menyingkirkan ke-aku-an yang ada pada diri saya untuk menanggapi panggilanNya. Saya belajar bahwa panggilan Tuhan tidak pernah memaksa. Ia sering menunggu manusia untuk berada di ambang batas ketidakmampuan diri manusia tersebut. Tuhan mengajarkan bahwa kemauan untuk menuruti panggilan harus berasal dari dasar hati terdalam manusia.

Ketika manusia telah menanggapi panggilanNya pun, Tuhan tetap ingin menguji sampai sejauh mana kesetiaan kita sebagai manusia. Ikut Tuhan tidak menjamin bahwa cobaan akan berkurang, bahkan mungkin yang terjadi adalah sebaliknya. Ia ingin manusia terus bertumbuh dalam kesetiaan pada panggilanNya tersebut. Di Lukas 4 saya belajar bahwa perlu sikap yang tegas untuk mengikuti Tuhan, tanpa kompromi, sekalipun ke-aku-an saya mampu untuk mengambil tawaran godaan tersebut.  Tuhan menginginkan manusia menjalankan panggilanNya dengan totalitas termasuk kepenuhan hati, tanpa paksaan.

Ayat renungan Dua Panji :

Luk 4:1-12
1 Yesus, yang penuh dengan Roh Kudus, kembali dari sungai Yordan, lalu dibawa oleh Roh Kudus ke padang gurun.
2 Di situ Ia tinggal empat puluh hari lamanya dan dicobai Iblis. Selama di situ Ia tidak makan apa-apa dan sesudah waktu itu Ia lapar.
3 Lalu berkatalah Iblis kepada-Nya: “Jika Engkau Anak Allah, suruhlah batu ini menjadi roti.”
4 Jawab Yesus kepadanya: “Ada tertulis: Manusia hidup bukan dari roti saja.”

-  Setelah memahami maksud dari ‘asas dan dasar / LR. 23’ dalam alur gagasan Ignasius Loyola, buatlah ‘asas dan dasar’ sesuai dengan bahasa, konteks lingkungan/ pekerjaan/ bidang studi/ panggilan Anda! (catatan: pastikan unsur-unsur pokok termuat di dalamnya, yaitu tujuanku-saranaku-sikap lepas bebasku-magisku)

Melayani Tuhan dan sesama dengan menjadi terang ke tempat / kondisi manapun yang ditentukanNya

Bekerja dalam bidang IT

Saya memilih untuk mengambil sikap sesuai ajaranNya dan menanggung resiko terburuk yaitu melepaskan pekerjaan saya dengan segala kenyamanan yang ada pada pekerjaan tersebut apabila :

- Pekerjaan saya menuntut sesuatu yang menyimpang ataupun bertentangan dengan ajaranNya

- Pekerjaan saya membuat saya menjadi benar-benar tidak ada waktu untuk mendekat kepadaNya, apalagi untuk melayani sesama

- Pekerjaan saya membuat saya mengabaikan kewajiban saya menjadi seorang anak yang taat pada orangtua

- Mengabdikan 100% waktu untuk bekerja, menelantarkan kehidupan rohani dan pelayanan saya

- Mengalahkan suara hati nurani saya

-Tidak mempunyai waktu untuk berkomunikasi dengan orangtua, terutama untuk menjalankan kewajiban sebagai seorang anak yang taat

Lepas bebas saya lakukan karena saya ingin menjalani hidup yang kembali fokus pada tujuan hidup saya, yaitu melayani Tuhan dan sesama. Aktualisasi diri dalam pekerjaan memang penting, namun Tuhan jauh lebih penting dalam hidup saya 

Tuhan memberikan penghargaan yang hampir setimpal kembali kok setelah 1 tahun ‘lulus’ sebagai trainee dalam hal karir, yaitu career path sesuai dengan yang saya harapkan 

At this time, I want to share about a little bit of my reflection that I got from the second meeting of MAGIS .

First, I want to keep remind you that God is good all the time.

Hey, God! You’re so awesome.

Step by step, you teach me to understand Your Way. And from the second meeting of MAGIS, You still teach me new thing.

Let’s start with a question. What is “Life History” ?

In my understanding from lesson that explained by Romo, “Life History” is when we try to review our life journey from the beginning until current time. Trying to dig deeper inside ourself and trying to analyze the correlation and impacts to ourself today. Remembering each experiences from our childhood.. From baby until now.. Good or bad experiences..

Well.., Does it hurt us if we remember the bad one ?

Absolutely, yes. At Circle time (small sharing group), one of member asked like that. Yes, it should be hurt us. But the first step for acceptance and forgiving is we must realized the root cause. At first, probably we would have rejection from our heart. In fact, the wound should be healed. When we start to learn to accept the bad experiences, then the forgiveness is in front of us. When we accept and understand that everything should be happen for reasons, that’s the beginning of reconciliation. Who we are today is developed by our past. So, if we couldn’t accept our past, we will be hurt forever in our life. And then it impacts to our characteristics.

Uhhhmmm…, Sounds complicated ? hehehee.. Yah well.. It doesn’t need to be understood. It need to be experienced. It’s not a theory, it’s a life lesson.

But trust me, when we can accept the past, it will make ourself better day by day. And God’s way will be started to be happen in our life.

Ini adalah sedikit permenungan saya terhadap daftar pertanyaan yang diberikan Fr. Melky di pertemuan pertama MAGIS Sebagai info, pertanyaan ini adalah tugas setelah sesi ‘Pengenalan St. Ignatius Loyola’.

1.Siapakah aku di hadapan Allah dan siapakah Ignatius Loyola bagiku ? Apa yang menarik bagiku tentang dirinya sehingga aku ingin mengenal tokoh ini secara pribadi ?

Secara pribadi saya merasa hanyalah seperti seorang anak kecil di hadapan Allah. Anak kecil yang minim pengetahuan dan sering berpikiran jangka pendek ketika dihadapkan pada situasi yang kurang/tidak sesuai dengan akal saya; hingga pada saat pekerjaanNya pada rencana dan waktuNya telah selesai saya lalui, secara perlahan saya baru mulai paham dan mengerti tujuanNya

Bagi saya, Ignatius Loyola adalah tokoh yang mengajarkan arti dan sikap kepatuhan atas rencana Tuhan, bahkan sekalipun dalam hal yang ekstrim dan kontras. Yang menarik dari tokoh ini adalah komitmen nya untuk benar-benar radikal mengikuti Tuhan. Dari kaum bangsawan yang saya percaya pasti terbiasa dengan kekayaan dan kehormatan dari orang lain, hingga benar-benar total menjalani panggilannya dengan menjadi pengemis.

Pernah sekali waktu saya bergabung di komunitas sosial di mana saya dan beberapa teman ditugaskan untuk menyamar menjadi mengamen/mengemis di sekitar sekolah untuk merasakan dan belajar merasakan pengalaman dari mereka yang berkekurangan. Pada pengalaman tersebut, betapa susahnya saya merasakan antara mengalahkan egoisme saya ketika akan masuk ke setiap warung dan mulai untuk mengamen/mengemis. Dan berkali-kali juga saya dan teman-teman ditolak, baik dengan cara halus maupun kasar. Sungguh kehidupan yang keras dan tidak mudah.

Ketika sesi mengenal St.Ignatius Loyola ini, saya langsung kagum karena ia berani menjadi pengemis pada masa transisi pembentukan dirinya untuk mengabdi pada Tuhan, apalagi dengan latar belakangnya dari kaum bangsawan.

2. Siapakah Ignatius Loyola di mata pengikutnya di jaman ini ? Adakah alasan-alasan khusus di jaman ini yang dilihat oleh para pengikutnya perlu dikemukakan agar orang mau mengenal lebih mendalam tokoh ini ?

Melihat dari ajaran spiritualitasnya yang baru saya kenal, saya melihat bahwa yang ditekankan oleh Ignatius Loyola adalah pengalaman pribadi seseorang dengan Tuhan. Dan saya melihat bahwa itu adalah sebuah nilai lebih untuk para pengikutnya yang sangat bagus apabila diwartakan ke orang lain. Karena menurut saya yang terutama dalam iman itu bukan masalah mengenai seberapa sering dan baiknya seorang individu mengikuti ritualitas, namun lebih kepada bagaimana ia menjalani komitmen iman nya dalam keseharian dan secara pribadi taat dan terus mengolah hubungan spiritualitas yang intim dengan Tuhan.

3. Bagaimana pengenalan atas tokoh ini dapat berdampak positif bagi pengembangan hidupku serta pengembangan kerja/kuliah dan karya-karya pelayananku ?

Dengan mengenal Ignatius Loyola, dampak positif yang saya rasakan bagi pengembangan hidup serta pengembangan kerja/kuliah dan karya-karya pelayananku adalah belajar untuk lebih aktif mengandalkan Tuhan supaya menjadi orang yang lebih bertanggungjawab atas setiap keputusan yang diambil, bukan dengan keluhan/penyesalan namun lebih kepada tindakan yang positif percaya bahwa ada rencanaNya. Sekalipun, mungkin keputusan itu bukan keputusan yang terlihat menguntungkan secara materi di mata manusia.

“Erika, how to be brilliant among 100 people?”

For seconds, I was silent. I knew what she meant. How to be brilliant among 100 people that already selected for the best intellegence score. How to be brilliant among 100 people who come from abroad education background. The question is “How” ?

I ponder what I have experienced. In my case, how to be brilliant among 75 people that very smart and come from better education background from myself. Fyi, I’m not very smart and just come from local university. I graduated just in average.

Then, I just reply to my friend ,“The important thing is your attitude. Don’t waste your energy just to be the most clever person because all of you must be selected well in intellegence matter.”

Yes, attitude is the most important rule that I keep.

The way how you respect others. How to speak up your ideas. How to show other what do you want them to do. How to convince others. How you communicate with others. It’s all about attitude.

As I experienced, I’m quite curious why some people tend to change others without change themself first.

And then I replied, “Enjoy what you do and what God want you to do”.

Yes, that’s the second rule that I keep. Sometimes, I can’t get what I expect. But I believe that God still trust me to do this thing for certain purposes. So, do it. In every small thing has His great purpose for my life. Proven with past experiences.

After that I replied again, “Make your ears to be deaf to the negative news / issues from other people talk.”

Yup. Well, not all people are good for your personal growth. Some of them will make you grow, and some of them will drop down your spirit because certain reasons which are impacts of too high expectations. Confident with yourself.

Sounds so classics, huh ? Yeah, I understand. But fyi, not all people really applied this thing. When someone got his/her job (especially their first job), they just work without clear goal & objective. So, when they get down because what they get is not as they expected, they start to grumble. Ok, let’s slowly discuss it. If you don’t determine clearly and in detail about your goal & objective, so what do you expect others to understand you? It’s easy for us to speak that we want to be in managerial level. Ok, but what kind of managerial ? Someone that already in managerial level should have better competencies to define and share their vision & mission. If we can’t clearly determine what we want to do and get in our life & career, how we can define the company vision and drive it to others?
